Concealers For The Fall: Find Your Perfect Shade
With a recent decrease in COVID-19 cases, companies have begun bringing their employees back into the office. This means exchanging pajamas for business casual clothes, and forgoing those extra few hours of sleep to get ready and commute to the office. Unfortunately, for many of us, it also means dark circles under the eyes while we readjust to the 9-5 onsite work schedule. But it also gives an excellent reason to shop for concealers!
In this feature, we look at products from Tarte, NARS and L’Oréal. Whether you’re looking to conceal or highlight, these brands’ concealers are sure to become a new must-have in your makeup bag! If you’re new to using concealer to highlight, make sure that you buy a shade that is one shade lighter than your foundation or one shade lighter than the shade that matches your skin tone.
Tarte Shape Tape
What users love about this concealer is that it is full coverage, brags 16 hours of wear, and comes in 35 different shades for light to dark skin tones. This concealer can be used for concealing dark circles under the eyes, highlighting, and for masking acne and spots. It has a doe-foot applicator, which is perfect for controlled and precise application. Also, it has a thicker consistency, so while it does blend out very easily, it is full coverage, and a little goes a very long way. The product includes shea butter for elasticity, mango butter for moisture, and licorice root for brightening and color correcting while leaving out parabens, mineral oil, phthalates, sulfates and gluten. It is also vegan! The product’s claim of being crease-proof for up to 12 hours holds true, and it did hold up pretty well after I spent some time in the pool. This concealer retails at Ulta for $29 for the full size (.33 oz) or $10 for the travel size (.0338 oz).

NARS Radiant Creamer Concealer
NARS never fails to deliver what it promises! This concealer is great for covering dark circles, highlighting, and full-face application. What we love about this concealer is it is light enough to be worn in place of a foundation, for those who want a more natural look, it does provide amazing coverage because it’s easily buildable, blending out perfectly for a flawless finish. NARS uses light diffusing technology to balance the complexion and reduce the appearance of redness, lines and wrinkles, stating that “The Mineral Tone Balancing Powder works to optically correct, not mask, imperfections.” With 30 shades to choose from, a 16-hour wear, and resistance to creasing, sweating, humidity, water, and transfer, you’ll fall in love with this concealer! It retails at Ulta for $30 for the full size (.22 oz) and $13 for the travel size (.05 oz).

Tarte Amazonian Clay 12–Hour Waterproof Concealer
What is unique about this concealer is comes in stick form, rather than a liquid. It is easier to apply quickly or when you’re on the go. It is oil-, talc-, and fragrance-free, which means it is great for anyone with sensitive skin. Amazonian clay allows for a longer wear, hyaluronic acid helps with moisture and firmness, and glycerin works to hydrate and restore moisture balance. With its matte finish, it’s better used for coverage of acne and spots rather than for highlighting, but does work adequately for dark circle concealing without creasing too much. It retails at Ulta for $25 (.07 oz).

L’Oréal Infallible Full Wear Waterproof Concealer
L’Oréal has some gems, and this concealer is definitely one of them! It comes in 25 shades, provides full coverage, has a matte finish and a 24-hour wear time. It’s waterproof and transfer-resistant, yet it’s not thick and cakey when applied, allowing for a full-face application if desired. It works very well for concealing darkness in the undereye area and is also a great option for highlighting. The XL doe-foot applicator gives the ability for the coverage of larger areas, yet still allows for precision. It is priced at $13.49 at Ulta, and can also be found at almost any drug store, which is extremely convenient for those times when you need a concealer ASAP!
